Offensive comments showed no respect for the Town Board nor consideration for other residents attending last meeting

During the public comment period, the person who stood up and equated the Bhutto assassination to tonight's process of filling the vacancy on the board was truly pathetic and totally inappropriate. In actuality had this vacancy filling not happened it would have been difficult to get a 2 to 2 vote to become 4 for one person. Rob is truly a qualified person for this position and basically non political. Had it been the other way around it could have been Mckeon to fill the vacancy and that would be a very political stunt!
Last night's display at the Town Board Meeting was embarrassing to say the least. As a resident of this Town, it was hard to sit quietly and not scream out at the people's comments sitting all around me about our Town Board. How childish! Why not just try to all work together for the future of this town and welcome all the new Board members?

The comment regarding the board's decision to appoint Rob Latimer speaks volumes as to the lack of maturity of the individual making it. It also says a lot about the attitude of the members of the opposition party who support said comments and their lack of ability and desire in meeting the needs of the entire community of 10500 people over the few special interests who want to own and divide up the town into their little private kingdoms.

To those who think that the actions taken by departing Bd member Crane and the interem appt. by the Bd is unseemly; Ask yourself HONESTLY what would you have done in similar circumstances. And IF, you can HONESTLY answer that you would have waited for the new Bd to be seated before choosing someone to fill the seat, ask yourself what the good people of Red Hook would have thought of your actions. How naive they would have thought you. AND, know that your postponing the replacement for the new Bd would have created a 2-2 deadlock that could have dragged out the process for months!!! Good call Mrs. Crane. And besides, the fact that the Voters put Sue Crane in the Supervisor Chair, means that they wanted her to influence her replacement. In our form of Gov't, the person who comes in SECOND is NOT the ASST. Supervisor or De facto Bd. member; he is simply the loser. But you know what? He or she is free to run again!

To Hotshot - I totally agree with your message, but using a pseudonym, rather than your name does not show the courage of your convictions. Respectfully, Dick Hansen.
